How It Works

What is Run to Quit?

Run to Quit helps you quit smoking by learning to walk or run 5 km! Run to Quit has two ways to participate: You can Do it Yourself OR get extra support by joining a Run to Quit Training Program. Register for Run to Quit (Do it Yourself or a Training Program) and you will be entered into our contest. Quit smoking for 5 weeks and you can win a $1000! (see terms and conditions for full contest details)

Run to Quit Training Programs

The Run to Quit 10-weekTraining Program will provide you with support from Running Room, other Run to Quit participants and quit smoking experts. You can join a Training Program at your local Running Room or you can choose the online option.

We have two Training Program formats to best suit you. Click on each to learn more.

  • In Store Training Program

    Only $69.99 + tax

    DURATION: 10 WEEKS

    Your training program class will be held once a week at the date and time listed on your registration. Each class starts with a 20 to 30 minute group seminar followed by a group walk or run. To complete your weekly training schedule, you will then join your instructor and group for runs (i.e. no class) at Run Club on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.

    Important: You are not expected to quit smoking or be able to walk or run very far on your first day. We will provide you with the resources and a plan so you can get to where you want to be. For people who are running you will be required to run 1minute for the first day. For people who are walking, you will be required to walk for 15 minutes.

    WEEKLY PROGRAM INCLUDES

    Goal setting, Cessation Techniques, Injury prevention, Motivation, Apparel and shoe selection, Nutrition, Biomechanics, Heart rate training, Hot and cold weather running, stress management

    DETERMINE YOUR LEVEL

    In order to prevent injury, it is recommended that you take a training program best suited to your current fitness level. If you can walk steady for 15 minutes or if you can currently run gently for 1 minute then you are ready. The pace while running should be gentle enough that you can carry on a conversation.

    JOIN WITH A FRIEND

    Fitness programs are always more successful when you do it with a friend. That’s why upon registration, we’re offering you a 50% OFF coupon to invite a friend. You can invite a friend who is trying to quit smoking too or just someone who wants learn how to walk or run 5KM and support you to quit smoking along the way. Everyone is welcome!

  • Virtual Training Program

    Only $49.99 + tax

    DURATION: 10 WEEKS

    Virtual Training Programs are ideal for people who wish to take a training program at their own pace and cannot attend at one of the store locations. When participants register, they will get

    Participants are encouraged to attend Run Club on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings at 8:30 at any Running Room location.

    Don’t hesitate to join with a friend, a neighbor, a co-worker or a family member who also wants to quit. Doing it with another person could be easier and encourage you along the way!

Do it Yourself Program

Are you the type of person who feels confident doing a walk, run and quit smoking program on your own? Then this option is for you! You will receive quit smoking resources and support from our National Quit Smoking Line but the rest is up to you. Register for Run to Quit (Do it Yourself or a Training Program) and you will be entered into our contest. Quit smoking and stay smoke-free and you will be eligible to win a $1000 cash prize.
