How It Works

What is Walk or Run to Quit?

This program helps you quit smoking by learning to walk or run 5 km!

Research is showing that running/ walking can help smokers quit and stay quit. Physical activity reduces the discomfort of withdrawal symptoms, lessens cravings, provides a healthy outlet for stress and helps you establish new routines. When smokers become more physically active, they are experiencing some of or all of the well-known 4 D’s for coping with quitting cessation:

  • Delay
  • Deep Breathe
  • Distraction
  • Drink Water

If done with others, the social aspect and peer support makes getting active more fun and helps you stick to your goals. Better fitness, reduced risk of cancer and healthy stress management are some of the many physical and mental health benefits to be gained from increased physical activity.

Walk or Run to Quit Training Programs

The Run to Quit 10-weekTraining Program will provide you with support from Running Room, other Run to Quit participants and quit smoking experts.

  • Virtual Training Program

    Only $49.99 + tax

    DURATION: 10 WEEKS

    Virtual Training Programs are ideal for people who wish to take a training program at their own pace and cannot attend at one of the store locations. When participants register, they will get

    • Weekly emails and audio clips from their coach
    • A simple & proven 10-Week Quit Smoking & Walk or Run Plan
    • Access to our quit smoking guidebook
    • Support from the National Quit Smoking Line

    Participants are encouraged to attend Run Club on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings at 8:30 at any Running Room location.

    Don’t hesitate to join with a friend, a neighbour, a co-worker or a family member who also wants to quit. Doing it with another person could be easier and encourage you along the way!
